The aim of this seminar is to (1) obtain an overview on linkages between climate change, economic growth and development and (2) in-depth knowledge on specific issues of climate-economy dynamics, including mitigation, climate impacts and adaptation. First, an overview on climate change economics is given. Next, we read and discuss economic and interdisciplinary articles on specific issues like estimating damages of climate change and optimal emissions, how to deal with uncertainty and discounting, and how to reduce carbon emissions and adapt to climate change. The selected papers provide in-depth knowledge and conceptual and methodological tools for economic analyses of climate change related problems. In the end of the course, students prepare a presentation and a written essay on a (selected) topic.
