The purpose of this course is to learn the principles of numerical modelling applied to the study of Earth Surface Processes. We will achieve this through the development of python code to solve the stream power law, representing bedrock river in-cision, the diffusion equation, representing hillslope processes and the flow of ice at the Earth’s surface. The aim/objective is to give the students all the necessary tools to develop a landscape evolution model and, with it, investigate questions relating to the long-term evolu-tion of landforms.
