The seminar is intended (i) to demonstrate the impact of different cultural backgrounds on the practice of contract negotiations and the enforcement of contracts and (ii) to provide a basic knowledge on international commercial contracts. We will jointly draft typical contracts accompanying complex negotiations (Letter of Intent, Non Disclosure Agreement) and a Purchase Agreement based on the Convention on International Contracts for the Sale of Goods (CISG). Finally, a Request for Arbitration under the ICC arbitration rules will be prepared and presented at the end. The seminar will be held in English.

The seminar includes 15 meetings of 90 minutes each (each Tuesday between 2 pm ct and 4 pm).

Students can acquire either (i) a certification of attendence regarding a key qualifikation (Schlüsselqualifikation) or (ii) a Probeseminarschein.

To obtain a certificate of attendance regarding a key qualification, students will have to participate in at least 80% of the weekly meetings and in the final presentation of the statement of claims.

To obtain a Probeseminarschein, students are requested to prepare (i) a seminar paper and (ii) to hold a speech about the subject matter of the seminar paper.

The Probeseminarschein will be issued for the focus area (Schwerpunktbereich) 1 (International Litigation); however, it can be used for admission to other focus areas.

Students being interested in acquiring a Probeseminarschein should contact me as soon as possible.
