The seminar is intended (i) to demonstrate the impact of different cultural backgrounds on the practice of contract negotiations and the enforcement of contracts and (ii) to provide a basic knowledge on international commercial contracts. We will jointly draft typical contracts accompanying complex negotiations (Letter of Intent, Non Disclosure Agreement) and a Purchase Agreement based on the Convention on International Contracts for the Sale of Goods (CISG). Finally, a Request for Arbitration under the ICC arbitration rules will be prepared and presented at the end. The seminar will be held in English.
The seminar includes 15 meetings of 90 minutes each (each Tuesday between 2 pm ct and 4 pm).
Students can acquire a certification of attendence regarding a key qualifikation (Schlüsselqualifikation).
To obtain a certificate of attendance regarding a key qualification, students will have to participate in at least 80% of the weekly meetings and in the final presentation of the statement of claims.
Participants may alternatively obtain a Probesminarschein which will have to be coordinated with Prof. Dr. Maik Thöne. Please contact me immediately upon the beginning of the course if you want to obtain a Probeseminarschein.
