"Negotiating opportunities”: How individuals from different social-class backgrounds secure unequal advantages in school?

This seminar will improve our understanding of how youth, their parents, and teachers collectively generate and reproduce advantages for young people from socially advantaged origins. Specifically, in the seminar, we will discuss topics such as cultural capital, parents’ child-rearing practices, student-teacher relationships, and teacher bias.
