This
seminar will focus on some key skills that you develop and employ during your
studies and beyond. We will ask how the central approaches to literary and
cultural studies can be made productive outside of academia. Meeting
professionals from fields such as film programming, curating, and publishing,
you will get the opportunity to learn about different career paths. Building on
these conversations, you will develop a plan for a creative/academic project
that relates to your skills and interests. At the end of the semester, all
students will present their project and show how diverse the career
opportunities are for humanities graduates. Please note that we will visit
Filmmuseum Potsdam, attend a screening of Potsdam’s Jewish Film Festival (6-11
May), and make a trip to the annual fair “Kleine Verlage am Großen Wannsee” at
Literarisches Colloquium Berlin on Saturday, July 5th.
