In this seminar we will look at studies on reproductive justice, focusing on literary and cultural abortion narratives. Abortion has become a heavily contested subject in recent years and we will trace its discursive history, but will also contextualise abortions within the broader discourse of reproductive justice. We will read and analyse fiction with reproductive rights themes, critically evaluate studies on this topic, and deconstruct arguments that have remained closely tied to this debate until today. The seminar mostly considers abortion in an Anglo-American context.
