In this course, we will discuss psycholinguistic approaches to issues in semantics. The goal is to explore how new methodologies from psychology helped shape semantic research and semantic theories. We will read and review some of the essential papers offering new psycholinguistic perspectives on core issues in semantics, including quantifiers/scope, negation, tense/aspect. In the last part of the course, we will explore how looking at these phenomena in combination influenced models of semantic processing.
