This
practical translation course will train students to recognise translation
problems that arise due to syntactic, structural, phraseological and
intercultural aspects. Students will examine, analyse and translate a variety of texts from
German into English, most of which will be from contemporary newspapers or magazines.
Typical German language interference errors will be examined and discussed.
Study methods include weekly homework assignments (self-study exercises), submitted
assignments, as well as contributions to forums on Moodle.
