In this course, students will be introduced to the field of lexicography, from both a theoretical and practical angle. First, recent lexicographic developments will be discussed, particularly in the writing of variety dictionaries of English. Then, students will be given the in-class task to compile their own dictionary entries, based on the formal and theoretical principles learned in the theoretical part. The number of participants is limited to 20.
